“Shutterbugs, Tread Lightly In Toronto Parks”
Adam Schwartz Photography
Allan Attridge Fotografie
Next time you’re in Toronto, you’ll have to come out with Toronto Photo Walks (http://topw.ca/) and we’ll see what happens when we shoot in the parks 🙂
The director of parks even said that their photo policy is unclear and not legally enforceable, so I wonder why they wasted their time writing it. We already get hassled by private security and TTC (transit) staff, so we’re used to being made to feel like we’re doing something wrong.
Meanwhile in London, the “war on photography” you mentioned comes mainly from private security firms; the Met Police site says “Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel.” (http://content.met.police.uk/Site/photographyadvice)
I’d love to come out for a photowalk. Can’t say when I’ll be in T.O. though.
I think the idea behind the “law” is to have a fall back in case somebody is misbehaving. Sad, but kind of a sign of the times i guess.
