  1. how’s it goin, eh?

i’m Jonny, here in Toronto. just want to say thanks for all the hours of doing this. i appreciate each joke, missed cue, tangent and tip equally. keep up the great work.
    you guys are fantastic.
i love tuning in each week. i’ve learned a ton. the Black Foamie thing has changed my life forever. i also, am loving my yongnuo triggers on my canon t2i. i’ve been really trying to learn all i can about off camera flash for about a year now, and i’m making better pictures all the time. (because of the YN addition to my kit)

a few episodes back, you guys mentioned macGuivering a hockey stick to hold a soft box or light modifier or simply a speedlite. funny. and a great idea. i had to respond and share the set-up i’ve found through watching Joe MacNally in a workshop here in Toronto.

    go to:

    to see the Kacey Pole-Adapter.

This little baby will fit perfectly onto a Paint Pole (Home Depot$20.), or on any old mop or broom handle that you have lying around with a standard threaded end on it. You can attach any swivel or clamp, umbrella holder, cold-shoe mount you already have to it and be mobile in seconds.

I love mine. and so does my VAL!

wish you guys all the best for the rest of summer. it’s so refreshing to hear a couple of Canadians catching up each week and talking photography.

Keep your stick on the ice, and don’t let your meat loaf!

  2. Thanks Jonny from Toronto. I would recommend dropping the “from” by the way. Jonny Toronto is a great name for a 90’s Gangster movie that tries to “borrow” from Tarantino. I’d watch it.

By sheer coincidence I have seen that makeshift boom pole. Very handy indeed. Approximately as functional as my expensive Gitzo microphone fish pole but at a fraction of the price. Just so happens I already owned the Gitzo for audio reasons. Wouldn’t buy one specifically for lighting.

Glad you can use the BFT. It was also a game changer for my photos. Thanks again to NvN. Keep up the off-camera work. It’s a pretty deep rabbit hole with lots to learn and different paths to take.

  3. Brian- we’ve all had at least a passing fascination with the vignette tool. Sooner we get past it the better.
